Create a one-of-a-kind gift or express your love for your own animal companions with an original oil painting or hand-drawn portrait. Portraits may be created from your photos or mine.

The background can be a color of your choice, or an interior or exterior scene. Elements such as the animal's favorite toy, food dish or bed can be included. Two or more animals may be shown together in one portrait. The animals do not have to be photographed together. To see samples, please check out the portfolio.

Good communication throughout the project is essential!!! You will have frequent opportunities to review work in progress and your feedback is always welcome.

The portrait process

1. Complete the order form and send it to me by mail or fax.
2. Send photos (the more, the better!) or arrange for me to photograph your pet. If you are using your own photos, please review the photo instructions.
3. You will receive a digital image of the photo that will be used as the main reference, cropped as needed for the portrait format.
4. A rough sketch will be prepared for your approval.
5. For black-and-white portraits, the final drawing will be started as soon as the sketch is approved. Oil painting customers will receive one or more additional digital images for review as the painting develops.
6. You will receive a digital image of the final drawing or painting. When everything has been completed to your satisfaction, arrangements will be made for delivery of the finished work.

Pricing, payment and delivery

Prices for standard formats and features are listed on the order form. Paintings larger than 16" x 20" require a custom price quote. Some projects are eligible for discounts. I will contact you to review and confirm your order. A 50% deposit is due prior to the start of the project. The full balance is due when you approve the final digital review image. Artwork will not be delivered until final payment has been received. Time and location for pickup of finished artwork must be arranged in advance. Shipping charges, if applicable, are the responsibility of the customer.
